This policy explains what information Virginia Techniques (“we”, “us”) collects through this website, how we use it, and the choices you have. It covers this website only. Class registration, payments and the Parent Portal run on Jackrabbit, and our mobile app is provided separately; each has its own privacy policy.
Information you give us
When you fill in a form on this site, we collect what you enter:
- Contact form: your name, email address, phone number (optional), the topic you pick, and your message.
- Private lesson request: the student’s name and age, the parent or guardian’s name, phone number and email address, the lesson goals and current skill level, availability, lesson length and any coach preference.
- Job application: your name, email address, phone number, the position, your availability and experience, and your résumé if you attach one.
We use this information only to reply to you, arrange the lesson you asked about, or consider your application. Form submissions are delivered to our front office by email; the website itself does not keep them in a database.
Information collected automatically
Website analytics
We use PostHog (opens in a new tab) to understand how families use the site so we can improve it. When you visit, PostHog records:
- the pages you view, how long you stay, and the site or link that brought you here;
- where you click and scroll on a page;
- your device type, browser, operating system and screen size;
- your approximate location (city, region and country), estimated from your IP address;
- how quickly pages load;
- when you take certain steps: sending one of our forms, clicking to enroll in a class, register for an event or book a party, opening the Parent Portal, or tapping our phone number or email address. For forms we record the topic or position you picked, never what you wrote.
We do not identify you by name in our analytics. We also use Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without identifying visitors.
Session replay
PostHog may also record a visit as a session replay: a reconstruction of what appeared on the screen, with mouse movements, scrolling and clicks. We watch replays to find pages that are confusing or broken. Everything typed into a form field is masked in your browser before it is sent, so replays never show names, email addresses, phone numbers, messages or details about your children. Replays are deleted automatically after 30 days.
Cookies and local storage
PostHog stores a random identifier in a first-party cookie and in your browser’s local storage. It lets us recognize a returning browser and group the pages of one visit together. We do not use advertising cookies, ad networks or cross-site tracking.
Security
To keep spam and automated abuse out of our forms, Vercel BotID checks signals from your browser when you send the contact or private lesson form, and your IP address is held briefly in memory to limit repeated submissions. Our hosting provider also keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting.
Who we share information with
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We use a few service providers to run the site, each of which handles information only on our behalf:
- Vercel hosts the site and provides Web Analytics and bot protection.
- PostHog provides analytics and session replay; its data is stored in the United States.
- Resend delivers form submissions to our office by email.
- Google shows reviewers’ profile photos in the reviews section; those images load from Google’s servers.
When you click Enroll, Register, a party time or Parent Portal, you leave this site for Jackrabbit, our registration and billing system, which handles your information under its own privacy policy. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Children’s privacy
This website is meant for parents and guardians. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from them. The private lesson form asks a parent or guardian for their child’s name and age so we can arrange the lesson. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your choices
- Do Not Track: if your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, PostHog analytics and session replay do not run.
- Cookies: you can block or delete cookies and local storage in your browser settings, or use a private window. The site works without them.
- Your information: you can ask us to tell you what you have sent us through this site, correct it, or delete it, including analytics data tied to your browser.
How long we keep information
We keep form submissions for as long as we need them to respond to you, provide lessons, consider applications and keep ordinary business records. Session replays are deleted after 30 days. Analytics data is kept only for as long as it helps us understand and improve the site.
Security
The site is served only over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and access to form submissions and analytics is limited to our staff and the service providers above. No method of sending or storing information is completely secure, but we work to protect what you share with us.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site collects or uses information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
