All-Star cheerleading is a great way to expose children to the exciting combination of athletics and performance.  Our Youth Squad is for children ages

6-11.  Cheerleaders learn basics in motions, jumps, tumbling, stunts and dance.  The team learns and works on a routine together, and performs locally at exhibitions and at a few competitions.

GEOFFREY NEELY: Geoffrey is currently a undergraduate student at Virginia Tech pursuing a degree in Mathematics with aspirations for medical school. His background includes multiple types of performance including theatre, musical theatre, dance, and cheerleading. Specifically, Geoffrey was a member and the manager of his high school cheerleading squad during his junior year. When Geoffrey was accepted to VT, he tried out for the Virginia Tech Spirit Program and further was placed on the Junior Varsity Cheerleading Squad and before the end of the season, was made captain. As for his tumbling experience, he has been flipping on trampolines and in backyards for years. This is Geoffrey's first year coaching a cheerleading team and has had nothing short of a BLAST doing so. He is extremely excited to join the Virginia Techniques team and specifically the ROCKERS Cheer Program. GOOOOO ROCKERS!

LAUREN COBERT: This is Lauren’s sixth year as a competitive cheerleader.  She cheered for four years on McLean High School’s varsity team, and competed for three.  Her team earned the title of 2003 and 2004 Liberty District Champs and also made it to the final round of the VHSL State Championships those years.  After graduating high school, Lauren went on to try out for Virginia Tech Cheerleading and was a member of the co-ed junior varsity squad for one year.  During the winter, Lauren travels and competes on All Star Legacy’s Open Team in Northern Virginia.  This is her second year as a member there, and she absolutely loves it.  This past summer, Lauren coached at her high school and worked at Cheer Excellence resident and private camps.  She was also a competitive Irish dancer for 8 years and has a strong background in tap, jazz and ballet.  Lauren is currently pursuing an honor’s baccalaureate as a biology major, medicine & society minor and French minor and plans to attend medical school upon graduating from Virginia Tech.  She is actively involved in student societies and organizations such as AMSA, AED, NSCS, VT Honors, La Table Française, biology club and microbiology club.  Lauren is very happy to be a part of the VA Techniques family and hopes this year will be very successful.  GOOOOO ROCKERS!!
